This past February I have been working on a project at my internship (which is a lot of why I've hardly been writing). On February 29th, Zuma Beach Tanning and Spa held a $4 Tanning event to promote Vitamin-D and its benefits. Many clients, returning and new attended, tanned, and pledged to not only take supplements and eat right, but to spend a few minutes in some sort of UV exposure. Due to the weather, the turnout wasn't the best, however the event was successful.
Our overall goal at Zuma was to educated clients in the area of retaining Vitamin D through UV lights. It just so happens that today was a very gloomy and rainy day, where no sun was present. In addition, Devoted Creations, a company devoted to tanning and skin care, sponsored the event and supplied the salon with shirts for the interns, as well as posters for display, and sample lotion packets. With the lotions, it was stressed that it is important to use one because some of the ingredients help the skin in achieving the color/glow of desire, start the tanning process in 30 seconds rather than six minutes, and helps increase the barrier between UV rays and the skin to develop a safe tan.
Vitamin D has many benefits, according to research and interviews with local physicians. From the common cold and flu symptoms to depression to psoriasis, sunlight (or UV radiation) helps these common virus' and diseases lessen and get back to a healthier lifestyle.
