That Sunny Vitamin

As many of you know, I am an avid tanner. The reasoning behind it is not to keep up with the latest trends or for color (okay maybe sometimes), but the overall reason is because I did have low Vitamin D levels. Sunlight is something that many doctors tell patients to stay away from, but with reseach and intensive Q&A sessions, many people have opened their eyes to the light.
While many are probably thinking to themselves that tanning causes skin cancer, well it does, however with moderation (like with anything) cancer can be avoided. Coming from someone who has overcome several health issues mostly dealing with the daily vitamin and mineral consumption, hear me out. After I was released from the hospital in 2010, I wasn't drinking enough milk to maintain a healthy amount of Vitamin D. My bones were always cracking and I was very weak, and you know what the thing is? I'm still like this today. Being outside in the sun, whether it's walking to class, walking around your surrounding area, or even going to a tanning salon (which I do in the winter months) for only 5-10 minutes a week, can make the biggest difference.
I'm not a professional, so don't take in everything I say because again this is a personal opinion and experience. Ask your doctor about being in a controlled enviornment, such as a tanning salon, for 5 minutes a week. The worst they can say is no, but if they say yes, it's the start to a newer, and healthier lifestyle.
