Summertime Tan

Summer is almost here and what does that mean? Yes, it means beach and pool time!!! For some of you, I know there will be probably more work than play, however, there's always time for a little relaxation. Would you like to know how that's possible in less than 30 minutes? Tanning!

Please do not think I am crazy, because I know I am, but that's neither here nor there. Tanning, like always, has it's pros and cons. If done the correct way, the time of your life is on its way. I've been tanning since I was 15 (in a salon), and ever since I was three years old, I have enjoyed my time out in the sun, of course, with moderation. Many will fight me on this, but I have yet experienced an issue, and I'm sure that as long as you're safe about it, you'll do great too!

What's the correct way to tan? Well, there are various ways one can tan, whether it be in a salon or outdoors. In a salon, the staff will always do a skin analysis and introduce  you to different lotions that will not only nourish your skin, but help you obtain a healthy glow! The tanning beds are regulated by the government, and there are time limits for them, as well as different strengths for different skin types.

For tanning outdoors, this is a different story, and can potentially be a little bit more risky than you would think. The Earth had what was called an Ozone Layer, which helped filter out the harmful rays from the sun. Unfortunately, such a layer hardly exists any longer. While tanning out on the lawn or on the sand, always wear some type of sunscreen (on your face and neck especially, since it's a more direct area), as well as some type of protection on the rest of your skin. If you're anything like me, I use sunscreen on my face and neck, and then I mix a little of it with my outdoor tanning product, and I still obtain a healthy glow.

This summer should truly be an experience, and without the proper education on tanning, you can't tan because there are some hazards. Please limit yourself to how long you stay out in the sun light if you choose not to go to a tanning salon. If you're at the beach or park, try to sit somewhere that shade is easily accessible, such as a patio, umbrella, or hat. Follow this brief guide, and you will have an enjoyable time outside or in the salon. If anything, visit a tanning salon nearest you and speak with an employee about your options. There are so many opportunities to build a base tan and still have time to do what you need to do.

Enjoy!!
